Introduction

Trezor® devices provide secure storage for cryptocurrency, combining hardware-level security with an intuitive user experience. The official start guide at Trezor.io/Start® walks users through setup, recovery, and essential security practices.

Step 1 — Unboxing & Inspection

Open your Trezor® box and check the tamper-evident seal. Only use a device directly from Trezor's official distribution channels. Inspect the packaging and contents before proceeding.

Step 2 — Download Trezor Suite

Visit the official Trezor Suite page to download the application for your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux) or use the web version. Install the software following the provided instructions.

Step 3 — Connect Your Device

Plug your Trezor® device into your computer using the supplied USB cable. Launch Trezor Suite; the app will automatically detect your device.

Step 4 — Initialize Device

Choose to set up a new device. Follow the on-screen prompts to create a new wallet, generate a recovery seed, or restore an existing wallet.

Step 5 — Secure Your Recovery Seed

Write down the recovery seed words on the provided card. Store it in a safe, offline location. Never photograph or store your seed digitally.

Step 6 — Set PIN & Passphrase

Set a PIN for device access. Optionally, enable a passphrase for an additional hidden wallet layer. Remember to securely store your passphrase separately.

Step 7 — Add Cryptocurrency Accounts

Within Trezor Suite, add supported cryptocurrency accounts. Each account allows viewing balances, transaction history, and sending/receiving funds safely.

Step 8 — Receive & Verify Transactions

Verify the receiving address on your Trezor device before sharing it. Always confirm on-device to avoid phishing attacks.

Step 9 — Sending Transactions

Compose and review transactions in Trezor Suite. Confirm transaction details on your device before approval.

Step 10 — Backup & Recovery Practice

Practice restoring wallets with a spare device if possible. Ensure that your recovery seed correctly restores accounts and is safely stored offline.

Security Best Practices

  • Always download Trezor Suite from the official domain: trezor.io
  • Never share your recovery seed or passphrase online.
  • Confirm all transaction details on your hardware device screen.
  • Keep firmware updated via Trezor Suite prompts.
  • Store recovery seeds in secure, geographically separate locations.
